After a hysterectomy how much longer do you have your period?

if you no longer have a period are you still bleeding alot after this surgery? If so for how much more longer? thanks

The surgery itself shouldn’t cause much if any bleeding. If it does it should be short lived.

If you had a partial hysterectomy , with an in tact cervix then you will still bleed, — though you aren’t ovulating etc of course.

IE: The shedding of the uterine lining is NOT a period.. or not a menstrual cycle it is just the uterine lining and the bleeding part of a menstrual cycle.

Technicalities aside bleeding after a hysterectomy is not common, especially prolonged. It definitely warrants a call, and subsequent checkup.

If you’ve had a complete hysterectomy – ovaries and uterus removed – then you will not have a period.

After six to twelve weeks usually women feel totally recovered and the sexual activity can return after going back to the doctor’s. Hysterectomy does not have effects for depression or menopause – like excess bleeding. It does not cure all bad effects of middle age.
